Sometimes patients ask “Am I going to hell?” or “do you think god will forgive me?” My response is usually “what kind of a god do you believe in? Is it a god who knows what’s in your heart? A god who understands why you’re here?”
The response is invariably yes.

I’m a former Christian and one of my jobs as an abortion provider is to hold space for Christian (& otherwise religious) patients to connect with their gods as a part of their decision to have abortions, not in spite of it. #ThankGodForAbortion
