There is a particularly irritating Daily (Hate) Mail article out today that is winding up a few people. There is an excellent blog post by @CensoredHead as a response, but I wanted to add a few thoughts that may help. 1/n
Much of the RW media is a propaganda machine. The interests of the owners of the paper are not your interests, they are not writing for you but their target audience. This is not teachers.
The language they use is deliberately simple because they want their message understood by their target audience. This is not you.
Schools can counter much of the hate from this particular source. They have an audience to which they can communicate directly. The problem is that this tends to be reactionary because the papers know what is going on before schools do... Thanks to the DfE
If schools take a leaf from the RW media and communicate virtually daily with parents and families using simple language they understand and learning lessons from the way newspapers work they can promote the work that they do constantly.
You have a much more segmented market that the Daily Hate and you can speak to them in a way that that particular rag can't - personally. Celebrate them, their children, their community - build a tribe that resists this crap and stands up for the school
Don't be isolationist when you do this. Reach out to other schools and celebrate the great work that they do too. You can be in competition (sport etc) but you are all part of the same wider community.
The power of this message being repeated across all schools reaches far more people than you realise. Make sure that everything you do is about making our society stronger and more united - not divided the way the fascist press does by slogans and naming everyone else enemies.
