It's looking like 6% of Covid19 deaths were without co-morbidity. That means out of the 62,033 people who died WITH Covid19 and 3,721 FROM Covid19 (although it is believed the figure is lower). We have plunged millions into poverty and destitution over this.
We have doomed people with existing illnesses to death over this. We have spent billions because of this. Now, you might say "Well, without lockdown it would have been MUCH worse" yet we can't seem to back that up to any great degree.
I supported the idea of an initial 2 week lockdown. But after that I assumed advice on hygiene and levels of social distancing would be the norm for helping us cope. Instead, our politicians chose to appease the very people they instilled terror into.
We're going to discover in the coming years that the cost of lockdowns in terms of human life will dwarf that of the virus. We have been failed by our leaders, and I include in that the Labour politicians currently berating the government over the "2 million into poverty" stat.
You, Labour MP's, have as much blood on your hands as the Tories. You abstain for political reasons, you go along on political reasons, then play to the peanut gallery with potshots and those across the aisle who are no different to you, not really.
We have been failed at every level yet those in Westminster don't mind, they know our ridiculous belief in our chosen "team" will mostly see them keep their salary and position as they lord over us and throw us the occasional crumb. We all deserve better. Our system is broken.
And for those who berated people for choosing "economy over lives" where lockdowns are concerned, I hope you don't get to experience the pain your attitudes has and will cause. But I hope you see it, and I hope your self centred nature allows you to feel it. Own it.
