This is stark, and quite frankly terrifying.
Timelines involved will lead to our special class basically being privitised. Already an issue, but one the AON could/should balance it.
It also will put enormous stress on mainstream supports.

Now, with those timelines, the only way to get access to a special class or early intervention class will be ability to pay for a private assessment. The reality is, if you don't get into a special class as a Junior Infant, your chances of ever getting access are minimal

But if you won't get an diagnoses via AON by the age of 4/5, practically this means special classes are only available to those who can pay.
Then weve mainstream, where even more pupils who require special class supports will end up. Except without any primary care support

No SLT reports, OT reports, psychological reports with recommendations to work from.
Vying for limited SNA support, trying to evidence care needs without outside input. SNA allocation partially based on HSE complex needs data. Will undiagnosed kids on AON list make that list?

So, we end up with fewer SNAs, to support more kids with significant undiagnosed needs, with no support from outside professionals and pupils receive no external supports or care.
Then we're using our incredibly limited SET time to try to support those need ourselves?

New models are already crucifying us for resources. This exacerbates the issue while creating a de facto system of paying for special class access.
This is nothing short of disastrous for schools, pupils&parents& going very under the radar.
Everyone needs to know about this
