When Mikel Arteta first took over Arsenal, I knew there were better options available, but I was excited to see what he could do with Arsenal and what he'd bring to us. Especially considering the fact that he worked under Pep Guardiola.
As time went on, we saw performances improve, we were getting results and he coached players who were described as "Uncoachable" and actually turned them into decent player for that moment in time. Players such as Mustafi, Luiz and Xhaka.
Then coronavirus happened, he got the virus and after that it was a real struggle for the whole club. He couldn't coach and train player 1 to 1. He had no pre season and 3-4 months were wasted. Then when we returned, 80% of our games were really good. We played well and got wins.
Especially the FA Cup which he won us. Going into the summer transfer window he said he was backed because he had to. People will say that he's a liar by saying so, well what do you want him to say. No?!
No manager is stupid enough to publicly call out the owners and the board. He obviously wasn't backed and other teams strengthened. We started the season off well with yet some more silverware and hopes were high. But since September, it's been going downhill.
Performances have been disgusting, certain decisions have been poor, and it's like a sinking ship. Our league position is atrocious as well. But Arteta has been here less than a year. We've seen what he can do. Why turn on him because of a poor run of form?
Unless something goes absolutely wrong like we lose our next 5 games, stick with him. Give him a few more transfer windows so he can get out the mess left from Wenger and being in his own players.
Considering the man nearly died, he's been here less than a year, he's won us 2 trophies and he's improved players, why turn on him? Unless something goes really wrong, I'm still backing Arteta. You won't get everything you want overnight whether you like it or not.
It'll take a few years. So be patient and back the man.
