Alright let’s talk affirmations/self talk

I get some ppl may think affirmations & self talk are corny or pseudoscience or whatever label they give it, but the fact of the matter is, if you’re open minded, they 100% work and can change your life. And this is scientifically proven
Everything we are/become as a human being comes from the way we think. The mind is our best friend or worst enemy, and often by no fault of our own. We’re programmed all throughout life on what to think/feel/believe by outside sources.

Affirmations/self talk take that power back
You see, we each have a tape recorder playing in our heads every day, & the extent that that tape recorder is positive/negative is literally everything.

So you can see why it’s CRUCIAL for u to change that recording, but here’s how that recording can work to our detriment⬇️
Have you ever felt super motivated to do something but no matter what you do/how much motivation you tell yourself you have you still just can’t get yourself to do what you want to do? Odds are, it’s because that tape recorder has created a limiting belief
If you have a limiting belief about your goals, whether it be about yourself or the goal in question, it’s no longer a matter of will power. If you don’t fix that recording, you’re never going to be able to achieve what you want to, and manifesting your desires will be blocked.
Now here’s the thing about affirmations. Even if you don’t immediately believe them, if you do them enough, it becomes like a song you can’t get out of your head. Once you’re at that point, you’re successfully rewiring thought patterns.

Repetition is the mother of all learning
And the thing is, there’s different effective ways of using affirmations. The main thing to know is that you have to be in a state where you’re RECEPTIVE to them. I’m going to give you 3 methods:

1.) self help guru Tony Robins suggests you say them in the car & say them loudly
This comes from the belief that your mind feels what your body tells it to. For example if you smile even if you’re feeling shitty, it can turn your mental state around. Therefore saying them enthusiastically/loudly in a car where no one can judge can be an effective way to do it
Personally, I don’t like that method. But some people swear by it.

2.) you can tape an affirmation list to a wall/mirror when you’re in a relaxed state like in the morning & night. Studies have shown looking at yourself while saying them can improve receptiveness
Or (my favorite method)

3.) You can record yourself saying your affirmations then listen to them at any time of the day, but especially meditating/at night.

I learned this hack from a book called the Creation Frequency, & it makes the most sense to me/I feel it’s the easiest
Meditating while listening to affirmations YOU recorded is fucking genius. Meditating naturally puts your brain in a receptive and relaxed state, which makes it more open to suggestion. Coupling that with personalized affirmation in your own voice just makes so much sense
AND, it’s less time consuming. Plus u can play the recording on a loop which again is perfect for meditating/while in bed before sleeping

Not only that, but you can even have high freq binaural beats playing in the background when you record them making them even more effective
There’s so many ways you can get creative with this method & it’s so simple that it’s def become my favorite out of these 3 options.

If you do choose this option, I recommend a calm but confident vocal tone when recording them & do it as many times as needed until it’s perfect
Now what about the affirmations themselves?

I personally don’t like present tense tangible affirmations like “I will work at _______” or “I make $____ per year” if it isn’t true. That’s more for visualization but that’s a piggyback topic we won’t get into today
In my experience/research, affirmations that focus on traits you want to have are MUCH more effective, and more often than not lead to the tangible things you want. Because this way, you’re not just stating the thing you want but creating a subconscious path to it.

Manifestation
If you’re not currently the person that is capable of ______ (desire you have), you won’t believe the affirmation & therefore it won’t work. Instead, ask yourself what kind of person would naturally have the thing that you want.

Design your affirmations based on that answer
This is especially important for the topic of health. Tons of people fail in their health/fitness bc they don’t see themselves as the person they want to be. Ask yourself what the ideal “you”’s habits would be.

Base your affirmations around those habits, not how you want to look
Or let’s say for example you want good friends

Rather than saying “I have great friends” say “I am a person great ppl want to be around” or even better “I am attracting into my life genuine, quality friends who love me for who I am”

See how much more powerful/believable that is
Rather than telling yourself you have something that you don’t which is much harder to believe, you’re suggesting to yourself that it is possible & that you’re worthy of it. That’s powerful shit. if you didn’t catch that at first, reread it.
This above rule goes for the more tangible goals⬆️ but it doesn’t necessarily apply to situations where u want to be more secure as a human being, since those are already personality based

For self confidence/assuredness affirmations, u can just say the trait u want to have BUT
Use the same powerful language as above.

Rather than simply saying “I love myself” say something like “I am secure in who I am and radiate self love”

Even saying/reading that might feel uncomfortable to some ppl. But if you hear it over & over again, you will start to feel it
Lastly, here’s some topic ideas that you can use for affirmations:
- self love/confidence
- career
- finances
- friends/relationships
- spirituality
- health & fitness
- peace of mind/groundedness
- general manifestation

* Remember to focus them on who you want/need to be

- use powerful, active language (I am; attracting/manifesting, etc)
