As I said elsewhere:
Kirsten Dunst has given us so much. She deserves so much more respect and honor. She’s the actress that best defines the millennial generation and, in my eyes, is the American Huppert.

Her filmography is ‘plagued’ with so many classics, many of which were very ahead of their time and have since developed very devoted cult followings.
Even BRING IT ON, a film successful in its time, was YEARS ahead of the curve for a mainstream film discussing cultural appropriation. Literally light years. Like in 2000.
I’m pressed to to think of a mainstream movie since that was so unambiguous and thoughtful of it?

Kirsten Dunst was also one of the first non-singer/songwriter celebrities I recall being open with their battle with depression.
Unsurprisingly, she delivered a masterful performance in MELANCHOLIA—one of the greatest, definitive portrayals of depression to ever grace the screen

Oh, and 3(+?) reboots later... I wouldn’t actually know, but has there been anything from the Spider-man franchise as iconic as this kiss?

Maybe I’m not as impressed as everyone else is with Amanda Seyfried as Marion Davies in MANK because I already saw Kirsten Dunst play her in THE CAT’S MEOW.
Kirsten Dunst / Sofia Coppola: one of cinema’s most significant actress / auteur pairings. Perfection, anyone?
Kirsten Dunst even starred in one of the most essential Lifetime classics of all time: FIFTEEN AND PREGNANT. Absolutely canon.
I’m proud to say I saw how great she was in ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND at the time. Always felt she was underrated as hell in it. The true heart of the film.
But overtime, the performance has aged even better, and I’d say she’s the MVP.

I’m not gonna delve too much into her early career, like JUMANJI, but I would be remiss if I didn’t remind y’all that she is a child actor survivor. She’s opened up about her anger towards her mom for forcing into this career.
As painful and unfair as that must have been, I hope she knows her legacy was worth it to her loyal admirers, like me.
If only her industry gave her the respect she has gone above and beyond to deserve.
