The thing about Best Supporting Actor is that you can probably name far more iconic performances that were snubbed than were nominated.
I mean, the 80’s alone were a treasure trove of now-iconic performances that have become pop culture staples.
Then you got ones that aren’t obvious, in-your-face snubs that really *should* be held in the same regard.
The there’s the comedic performances. Historically the Academy has done better in Supporting Actor than other categories, but they’re still taken for granted.
I think the moral of this story is that Best Supporting Actor is usually filled with rich possibilities that only are sometimes capitalized on. Character actors rule. Good night.
(Yes, I know Pitt and Mifune don’t count as character actors, cut me some slack)
