Too much democracy, a thread.

In the head of the Hindu RW, political change still happens through the medium of executive legislating like a monarchy and who better to demonstrate that than Hitler. /1
BS Moonje, mentor of Hedgewar, met with Benito Mussolini, who let him study the organisational structure of the Italian fascists. After returning home, Moonje played a key role in molding the RSS on the pattern of the Italian fascists. /2
In his diary, Moonje dwells on the deep impression left on him by the vision of the fascist organisation. “The idea of fascism vividly brings out the conception of unity amongst people,” he writes. /3
Our institution of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh of Nagpur under Dr Hedgewar is of this kind, though quite independently conceived. I will spend the rest of my life in developing and extending this institution of Dr Hegdewar all throughout Maharashtra and other provinces.” /4
In more "educated" Hindu circles similarly Hitler and his bestseller acts as a gateway drug to authoritarianism.

“Dictator envy is a habitual feature of democratic politics," David Runciman wrote in the Guardian. /5
"We don't actually want to live under a dictatorship – we still have a horror of what that would entail – but we do envy dictators their ability to act decisively in a crisis." The common idea is ‘people don’t know what’s good for them.’ Think the farmers protest apologia. /6
Now when we say people don’t know what’s good for them. What we mean is they don’t like what I want and I know an authoritarian leader would. Because if India will have a dictator he/she shall appear most likely from my demographic group and serve my interests. /7
So, when a dictator would anyway be on my side why fear that? In the end arguments like too much democracy or let’s have dictatorship boils down to this. You will rarely if ever find the disenfranchised desiring a dictatorship. It’s always the majoritarian clamoring for it. /8
In the end. When someone says we have too much democracy they mean that those ‘others’ have too many rights and their protests for equality is hampering my status of privilege. /end
