Sometimes I’m stopped in my tracks by the memory that I grew up in an era where top commercial radio hits included bands/songs/albums called Butthole Surfers, Barenaked Ladies, Detachable Penis, Dookie, Cherry Popping Daddies and Limp Bizkit.
Dookie — an album called Dookie! — went multi-platinum and won a Grammy. Sold 20 million copies.
Remember “The Bum Bum song” by Tom Green? (remember Tom Green? He was married to Drew Barrymore!). That song made it to No. 1 on Total Request Live.
Anyway, what was with all the middle school humor in popular culture? My excuse was I was actually in middle school, but was the entire world?
