What's most infuriating about the Christchurch report is that it confirms so what many of us had been saying about the dangers of YouTube and figures like Stefan Molyneux. I wrote about these radicalization pathways *a year* before the attack https://www.splcenter.org/20180419/mcinnes-molyneux-and-4chan-investigating-pathways-alt-right
We knew that Stefan Molyneux - whose media outlet we now know the Christchurch shooter donated to - radicalized people. Extremists themselves were describing his as useful for pushing people down the path to white nationalism.
And as @beccalew points out, Molyneux was continually laundered by members of the so-called Intellectual Dark Web. https://twitter.com/beccalew/status/1336317240078176260
When I pointed out in this report how figures in the IDW contributed to people’s (self-reported) radicalization, my report was rebuked by one Bari Weiss. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/05/08/opinion/intellectual-dark-web.html
Tech companies barely budged while white nationalist ideas got laundered across mainstream media outlets. And it’s very, very frustrating to look back and see what happened.
