This isn’t an original thought, but I’ll reiterate it anyway: we are COMPLETELY unprepared for the deluge of people with brand-new chronic illness or disability as a long-term impact of having had COVID.
I mean, we’re potentially talking about tens of millions of people with permanently diminished health from coronavirus - and that’s on top of the people we’re *already* failing to care for because of all the holes in our healthcare system right now. https://twitter.com/lindsaydemeola/status/1336141154258018305?s=21
It really does feel like watching a car crash in slow motion.
There’s a popular Republican anti-UHC talking point that’s essentially “universal health care will lead to care rationing and longer wait times for appointments.” The FUCK do they think is going to happen when another 15 million people now have lasting chronic health conditions?
And not only that, but a good portion of those people with new chronic health conditions are HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS!

Do you understand what happens when demand increases and supply decreases? You get SCARCITY.

Since I’m going to bed soon and it seems like this might blow up overnight: I have nothing to promote except to wear a mask, stay home if you can, and if you’re fortunate enough to be financially secure right now consider mutual aid. There are so many individuals in need.
and for the love of god, TIP YOUR DELIVERY DRIVERS.

If you’re voting in your Senate runoff election, remember to vote for BOTH Ossoff and Warnock. There’s apparently been some confusion around this, so I wanted to signal boost. (Also, can’t recommend following Yvette enough. She’s doing tons of work on the ground.) https://twitter.com/afrosabi/status/1336101856263753728
