It's time for my yearly tradition of how many sketchbooks did I fill up this year, where I give my yearly reflections!!!
Last year I skipped out because I'd become so depressed that I would start new sketchbooks give up on it and start a new one. When the year ended I beat myself up for my lack of completion, so this year I set out to finish as many unfinished sketchbooks as I could.
Did I consider this cheating?
I did at first, because it felt like 2 years worth of work vs 1. But at the end of it all sketchbooks to me are a project/chapter in my life. I can very easily tell who and where I was as a person when I open certain sketchbooks.
The way I see it is a lot of these books are chapters I hadn't been quite ready to close in my life. Although this year was challenging, to say the least, I do feel like I grew a lot from learning the importance of self closure.
I hope everyone, wherever you are, is being forgiving and empathetic to yourself and others above all. This year has taken a toll, on some more than others and it's important to be grateful for what each of us have. Understand our privilege, and the lack there of for others.
Please be safe, happy cold season and may we continue working hard together next year...<3
