A cursory thread about "The Scooby-Doo Project"- a real Scooby Doo/Blair Witch crossover that only aired once in 1999, because it was deemed unsuitable for younger audiences (the main cast is implied to die at the end).

On Halloween 1999, CN aired a 24 hour Scooby Doo marathon, during which they gradually showed a whole new “episode” via brief commercial bumpers. This episode shared the same plot as The Blair Witch Project.
It notably featured animated characters on a live action background, in a similar fashion to movies like Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
I don’t know for sure exactly how the special begins. Some sources say with black and white footage of police investigating an abandoned Mystery Machine, complete with creepy background ambiance. However I also found videos that open with text narration.
The police footage definitely aired at some point though, likely in between commercials. The most comprehensive video I found shows it all at the beginning.
Some of the footage:
The actual plot of the special is… pretty much the plot of the Blair Witch project. Some parody (like having Scooby and Shaggy eat the map) but a lot of it is just played weirdly straight? Like the fact that the gang seems to be truly fearing for their life
As I mentioned earlier, the gang is implied to die at the end. This is likely why many found it so unsettling.
I don’t really know what else to say about The Scooby Doo Project. But if you think I’m fucking with you, here’s some links to various reuploads of it on youtube:
Forgot to mention this incredible scene. 21 years and it hasn't aged at all lmao https://twitter.com/wizard0rb/status/1336523302756638722?s=20
If you thought this was interesting, I also have a thread on CRACKS, an obscure piece of animation history that very little is known about. https://twitter.com/wizard0rb/status/1336760961236086784?s=20
