This evening, civil rights leaders, including @Sifill_LDF, met with President-Elect Joe Biden and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris to discuss how their administration will approach key civil rights and racial justice issues.
"I also reminded him that, given the real politique of the Senate, that he has other powers...That it's important to delve into each of those bills and determine what matters he can do by Executive Order." -- @Sifill_LDF
On holding law enforcement accountable:

"I encouraged the President-Elect to state clearly his intention to fully support Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, including against law enforcement agencies as a way of addressing discrimination." -- @Sifill_LDF
On the Justice Department:

"We have watched the decimation of that department during the Trump years...We need a strong Attorney General...who has a demonstrated record of criminal justice reform, as well as civil rights."
On the Judiciary and judicial appointments:

"I prevailed upon him...to think about racial diversity, gender diversity, but also think about professional background diversity...and to think more broadly about the reforms that are needed throughout the justice system."
