Anyone who was waiting for Jason Kenney to take some kind of PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY for this crisis can stay on the line, your call is important to us #ableg
Kenney now taking a dump on people who work in government, as you do
Jason Kenney is announcing a lockdown by explaining at length why he thinks lockdowns are a bad idea. This is truly world-class right-wing pandering
For those not watching, this is the least convincing lockdown announcement by any government in this pandemic. Kenney's ten minutes in, sounds like he's reading from a book he hates, and is still unpacking why he doesn't want to do it #ableg
When I worked at Starbucks in 1996, they wanted us to correct people who just called it a Frappuccino by saying "you mean a Frappuccino blended beverage?" Me and my perpetually stoned co-barista sold that line more heartily than Kenney is selling his support for this lockdown
Dude is out here bragging about what a good job he did on the contract tracing system that collapsed a month ago
Thankfully we now have the extraordinary empathy and communication masterwork of Tyler Shandro to make up for Kenney's reluctant assistant manager take on the new restrictions #ableg
Schweitzer batting third, also wants you to know that this is about the devastating toll this pandemic is taking ... on small businesses
To be clear, we're a half hour and 3 ministers in, and aside from a perfunctory mention by Kenney of the death toll, this update has completely ignored the idea that you take these lockdown measures to save people's lives #ableg
Credit where due: not only is @CMOH_Alberta taking time to talk compassionately about the life and death stakes, but pointing out the COVID-positive Alberta population would be the 5th largest city in the province is very smart comms #ableg
This is truly amazing. Kenney showing real emotion about how restrictions are bad for business. Hard to imagine a more effective way to undermine the entire purpose of his own lockdown measures than to labour over how damaging they are like this
Well that was astoundingly poor, even by the standards of the UCP. I'm thankful I don't really have to listen live to these sneering ideologues again for at least a few weeks /fin
