At 4pm, @CMOH_Alberta and Premier Jason Kenney are expected to announce a shutdown of bars, restaurants, lounges and casinos, among other restrictions. I'll be live-tweeting the #COVID19AB update. @SammyHudes has the main file. Follow along below. @calgaryherald @calgarysun
Sources with knowledge on the matter spoke with Postmedia prior to today's announcement. Here are the details, by @DonBraid and @AmandaMsteph. #COVID19AB #ableg #abpoli @calgaryherald https://calgaryherald.com/news/province-to-order-bars-restaurants-casinos-to-close-in-next-round-of-covid-restrictions
Masking is now mandated province-wide for indoor, public spaces. Farm operations are excluded. ALL indoor and outdoor social gatherings are prohibited, effective immediately. #COVID19AB @calgaryherald @calgarysun
On Sunday, the remainder of new #COVID19AB measures will come into effect. This includes the closure of restaurants, pubs, bars, lounges and cafes for in-person service. Casinos, gyms and personal services are also forced to close. @calgaryherald @calgarysun
Work from home orders are now in place, with exemptions for frontline workers, or as the province states “work that requires a physical presence for operational effectiveness.” #COVID19AB
When it comes to places of worship, they will be limited to 15% of fire code occupancy. It was previously one-third capacity for areas under “enhanced status.” #COVID19AB @calgarysun @calgaryherald
Retail services are allowed to stay OPEN, however they must reduce capacity to 15% of fire code occupancy. Same for shopping malls. #COVID19AB
More places mandated to close: Bingo halls, horse tracks, legions, private clubs, recreation centres, spas, indoor rinks/arenas, libraries, science centres, museums, galleries, massage, tattoos and piercing. Hotels can stay open, but must follow restrictions. #COVID19AB
