Interesting paper in @BloodAdvances confirms prognostic importance of MRD- in NDMM and RRMM (again!) http://tinyurl.com/yyoygprq . Important context: 5y OS of MRD- in TE NDMM pts was 71%, worse than @WinshipAtEmory RVD1000 series showing ~80% 5y OS for pts achieving VGPR or better

This MA is powerful and supports its goal of demonstrating utility of MRD as an endpoint. But side story is: despite a MRD depth of at least 10-5 in 87% of included pts, MRD- still underperformed compared to VGPR in the Emory study, where SOC is RVd -> ASCT -> risk-ad maint

MRD- is obvs better than MRD+, esp at 10-5 or less. But it's not the only important factor. I think this, and #ASH20 IFM update suggest that it's not just about whether you get to MRD-. How you get there and stay there also still matters, at least for now. #mmsm #mmMRD
