Actually I need to write something less flippant about this. My team in the last few months have worked really bloody hard to secure charges against vulnerable victims. These aren't your shiny nice victims, these are alcoholics with MH problems, people with complex needs. Thread.
They are hard to deal with, but that doesn't mean they deserve any less of a service when someone kicks 7 bells out of them. Or in our most recent case, where the suspects jumped up and down on his head. Litterally. Yes they are hard work, but he deserves justice same as you or I
We worked with his support worker to get him on board, we have cracking CCTV which is shocking and sickening. We finally got him on board. The court dates are now for Summer 2022. What do you think the chances are of keeping him engaged for that length of time?
This backlog of cases has been building for years and not one person in government has helped to fix a broken system, because no one cares about criminal justice until it is them that needs it. And for wealthy MPs that is even less likely to happen.
When you factor in investigation tome we are talking about 2 years min from incident to trial. We might as well walk away from every vulnerable victim now because response teams aren't going able to provide 2 years of support. How long can this go on?

This is what I was talking about. https://twitter.com/RealSamVimes/status/1336364270657957891?s=20
Obviously in that first tweet I meant charges against suspects in cases with vulnerable victims. Urgh. I'm tired. Sorry.
