I’m still going off on this authority/heart stuff because I’m still getting lots of responses to my tweet a couple days ago about the heart being the highest authority. So while the haters are here, I have a few more things to say. 🙂
The reason I care about this is because I used to be a person who believed the Bible was to be trusted more than my own heart. My heart was “deceitful” like it said in the proverbs. My flesh was wicked and fallen and I had to do everything I could to fix it!
Which was essentially: trust the authority of the Bible, which was the authority of God. What I didn’t see at the time was all the unspoken in that. Which Bible? Who’s interpretation? And why exactly was I supposed to trust them?
By obscuring that I actually had to look inside and decide for myself who and what to trust, church men got to have a lot of power. They told me to not listen to myself but to trust them. But rather than saying it like that, they said “trust God” or “trust God’s Word!”
It’s the same tactic the Trump team is using for their coup. “Don’t trust what’s right in front of your eyes! The news media is deceitful! Numbers are deceitful! Trust the truth (trust us)!”

It’s gaslighting. It’s the trickery of con men.
They tell you to doubt the deceit of the media or your own heart, but what they are really saying is “close your eyes and just let us do your thinking for you.” And this is how you get the worst shit in human history. By trusting their authority.
How else do you get people with a conscience and a brain to actually hold Jewish children at gun point while herding them into gas chambers?

How else do you keep white supremacy alive?

How else do you make billions of people ashamed of their own bodies/sexuality?
You make them think that they can trust their own heart. Instead you must trust the Man (God, Trump, Hitler, the Pastor...etc).

For the powers that be, you trusting your own heart is the most dangerous thing possible. They’ve brainwashed us with fear.
And by the way, by “heart”, I’m obviously not speaking about your literal heart, nor am I simply talking about your emotions, thoughts or feelings. It is true that all of those things can be “deceitful” to some degree and ought to be taken with a grain of salt...
What most people think of as their hearts is probably just their ego. Their fears, lusts, desires...etc that make them feel special and important. When I’m talking about trusting your heart, I’m not talking about trusting your ego. I’m talking about trusting your deepest Wisdom
I’m talking about trusting the Divine that is within you, not outside of you. It is that spark, that light that recognizes the Truth. The Kingdom of Heaven is not “out there”. It is not “up there”. It is not in a book or in the mouth of any preacher or teacher. It is within you.
