This is good ... but also a moment of sad melancholy.

My N. European genetics gifted me with what is called an "athletic build;" tall, lean, broad shouldered, small waist. I look in better shape than I am.

...shape than me literally break down in tears because the career they cherished was about to be destroyed & the Navy they loved was about to throw them away for the want of 1". They were just genetically "big boned" - solid, beefy men & women. They were not fat slobs. Just /2
... the opposite - they were strong, great Sailors. Only being held back because of something they had nothing to do with, their genetics. All other objective performance measures to do their job were 5.0 ... but they were just a bit thick. Along the same lines, some poor /3
...leaders would let body shape judgements affect ranking for EVALS/FITREPS ... or even worse, PT scores.

Even though the superficial factor was actually in my favor, I loath "the tape" or the fetish of the long distance runner. Most of those guys (M & F) could not do what /4
...I value most in a Sailor; can you carry my injured bohunkus up a ladder? That beefy Polish-potato-farmer body BM1 we're about to kick out for being 1" on the wrong end of the tape? He could ... along with one of those 150# marathon runners too with the other arm.
