Such sense of shared responsibility is rooted in tribal society. Each individual,family or tribe iis liable to contribute and pay the price if something wrong is committed by his family member, subtribe and even larger tribe. 2/n

A tribesmen allegiance to his family and tribe is by default. Also as per rules if someone agrees to som term or pledges supportof mutual cause in a group or organization then he is bound to follow all such customs and liabilities as drawn in tribal customs.
in militancy these codes & customs were manipulated. Mangal Bagh used these codes to perfection and in no time he was the most powerful man in Khyber. He didn't even hesitate to challenge govt writ.
These customs and codes were getting weak with grdual assimilation of tribal society in modern way of living and acceptance to state/govt laws. Curse of Militancy was the final blow to these customs... 30 to 40 yrs down from now these customs & codes will sound fictions.
Pashtunwali perfectly embraces Islam in time of sorrow/death.All burial arrangements from digging grave, funeral to serving food for three days r done by neighbors( tribe). A member from each family of tribe will ensure presence 4 taking care of guests coming for condolences.
