Gen. Mattis was confirmed 81-17, so I don't think General Austin will have problems. Esper was confirmed at 90-8 despite Raytheon, so just be honest & say you're mad it's a Black man. He was commander at CENTCOM, wrecked ISIL, & helped stabilize the ISF before. He's a great pick.
Under normal circumstances I'd rather have civilians in charge & I get that argument, but he's an expert in the Middle East as we have ditched treaties, abandoned allies, & have inflamed tension. We should welcome his expertise & experience. Not many are qualified. He's great.
ALL of the nominees so far are exceptionally qualified. Would I like more women? Yes! Do we have a lot of high-level picks left? Also yes!
We have the 1st woman Vice President, 1st at DNI, an ALL-women comms team, 1st woman leading the Treasury, 1st WoC at OMB...& it's early.

Minor correction.
Mattis was actually confirmed 98-1.
The 81-17 was w/r/t getting the necessary waiver. It's early.
