Just a reminder that all of these end-of-year “Best Of” lists only include books that one specific person or publication deems the “best.” It has nothing to do with quality! Or how well your book will do or has done!

Also, it’s usually the flashier titles that show up. Most people who compile these don’t dig deep for the beautiful surprises on the mid list or the quieter books. They skim the top for famous authors and hot debuts.

FOTL was on absolutely every list in the fall of 2017, and...

...since then, now that I have evolved from a sexy young debut (which this business likes to exalt) to someone with four books (which is the equivalent of an invisible old crone, if you’re not famous), people don’t include me, either. But I love my books and I’m proud of them!!!

And I am proud of YOU for releasing a book during an awful year. The goal here is not and never has been to get on lists. The goal is to keep writing and getting your voice out to readers who need to hear it, and you have made a start and/or are continuing. You ARE the “best of”!
