I’d like to ask you all a favour, if I may:

Could you please, every day or every couple of days, post something trans-positive on your TL?

The transphobia on here has reached a more or less constant roar, not because these bigots are the majority, but because they shout loudest

Nearly 52,000 of you follow me, and if you all do this, that will be 52,000 supportive messages reaching trans people at a time when they’re under sustained and vitriolic attack.

Staying silent might be easier, but it serves only to perpetuate this abuse.

And I’m not saying tweets are the only solution, but it’s a simple thing you can do, that will take just a minute, to help offset the tide of hatred.

You can also do things like writing to your MP and donating to trans charities, legal funds etc if you are able.

You can also look into the policies for safeguarding trans rights at your place of work, and advocate for improvements where necessary.

You can call out transphobic jokes and comments in your friends/family groups, and/or boycott newspapers publishing transphobic content.

I realise not everyone will be able to do all of these things, but the very minimum any of us can do is to say, “I support trans people and my account is a place where you will never encounter bigotry.”

Whatever you do, please do *something*.
