There's always a lot talk about shooting your shot, but no explanation of what that actually looks like.

So many people are just throwing the basketball to the back of the court without thinking about their strategy.

With regards to *dream job* applications in particular:
Yes, defs apply for *that* job, BUT - you shouldn't just shoot off a resume. If you're unqualified, explain why your experience, passion, or skill otherwise makes you a good fit.

If you think it's a dream job - tell them why. Don't just say "because I love X" - tell a story!
As a hiring manager, I *WANT* to back someone who shows passion. I respect hustle. I see people who put extra effort into a cover letter instead of sending off a resume template.

Shoot your shot, but do it properly.
Also - don't put it off! So many people I know talk themselves out of a good thing + sit on their hands until things pass them by. The worst that happens is you miss out! There are plenty of people I haven't hired who I keep an eye out on, or eventually hire, or intro to others.
Anyway this was a whole bunch of tweets for a person who has literally not once played basketball in her life please apply for that good job I believe in you and think you can do the thing!!!
