Call it the Age of Aquarius, the New Age, the New Precessed Age, or the New Astrological Age, but:

there is no clear way to calculate it;
it’s an esoteric, not a scientific concept; and
no one has a definite start date for it.

That said, I believe it began in 1903.
(a thread)
For starters, know that if you take a fixed point, like the Sun's position at the vernal equinox, the stars appearing behind it are not the same over a long period of time. Those stars are perceived by earthlings as a slowly rotating backdrop.
The fact of precession isn't controversial.

However, the Theory of Astrological Ages claims that when the vernal equinox point enters a next division of the precession cycle, a "New Age" is born that alters the experiences for living beings on earth.
This is where many secular positivists jump ship. They see no reason that precession would be the cause of a New Age arriving.

Yet in fields like astronomy, specialists are interested in measuring the location of stars and constellations and their relationship to the ecliptic.
And so astronomical organizations have tried to divide the sky into measurable divisions for their study.

In 1930, the IAU formulated boundaries for the constellations. They said 13 constellations straddle the ecliptic, with widely variant lengths, many not close to 30 degrees.
These astronomers do not use the astrological 12 division of the ecliptic. They use their own measuring system. This is why you see articles in recent years saying: "NASA says there are 13 signs."
To reiterate: astronomers are not—at least in their profession capacity—interested in the beginning of an esoteric New Age based on precession.

Astrologers who are interested in this energetic transition are not in any way bound to use the ecliptic divisions of astronomers.
Astrologers mostly do not use the IAU constellational division of the ecliptic. Astrologers often debunk that application.

Astrologers have been free to create their own justifications for the beginning of the New Age untethered to any one division of the precession cycle.
In his The Book of World Horoscopes, Nick Campion shows a wide variance for the proposed start date of the Age of Aquarius, from 1447 to 3621.

It's precisely because there is no official or correct division of the precession cycle that this wide range can exist.
Astrologers can choose to use the IAU's constellational zodiac boundaries to time when the Sun will be in a new division on the vernal equinox. In that model, we have 13 ages of varying length. This puts the Aquarian Age starting around 2600.
But many other astrologers have and will continue to reject using those boundaries.

I accept the idea that precession can bring new ages but have my own justifications for when those ages begin (not tied to the IAU or any one ayanamsa based division of 12).
According to my understanding, we entered a New Astrological Age in 1903, when all seven traditional planets simultaneously transited through a sign of their domicile.

The rise of electricity, air travel, etc. that followed makes a compelling case.
I found that the space between when the seven traditional planets are all in a sign of their domicile or all in a sign of their exile (detriment) is on average 1,974 years, based on the four examples found in Solar Fire’s searchable ephemeris.
Many in the Theosophy movement wrote about a new age arriving in the last decades of the 19th century. Crowley is said to have channeled The Book of the Law in April 1904, or within the year following all planets aligning in a sign of their domicile in mid-August 1903.
This early 20th century date is linked to the rise of the Age of Electricity, which we’re still in and which the internet is based on. Electricity is the foundation for many of the technological advancements we’re living through.
The upcoming Jupiter Saturn conjunction in Aquarius, which finalizes a transition into a time when such conjunctions will occur only in Air signs for the next 139 years, then, is a big deal. It completes the first mutation conjunction transition since the New Age began in 1903.
This winter solstice is the first birth within a larger cycle, according to my theory, and therefore significant.

Plus, there’s no doubt we’re having a very Aquarian moment in February 2021, repeating such a moment from 1962.
No one knows when the Age of Aquarius begins; it’s an esoteric concept that doesn’t rely on divisions of the precession cycle as determined by any one person or group, including astronomers.

Enjoy the transition to a New Age if you feel that this winter solstice marks it!
