A parent in risk group is informed that the kid will be failed in sports, unless she agrees to let her go to the swim hall amidst uncontrolled viral spread in the local schools. No biggie, happens everywhere all the time in Sweden. I have a theory why:
The average swede sees the pandemic as a test of in moral virtues and self sacrifice for a common good. The country is under threat but by obedience and discipline we will prevail. Everyone will have to take his fair share of loss, and struggle against this is an egoistic act.
From this perspective, a worried parent or academic critic of the strategy, is a threat that needs to be corrected and, if his/her obnoxious behavior persists, punished. Hence 0 empathy for the mother of the kid who doesn't wanna go swimming.
