what to do and what not to do when advocating for BLM right now: a helpful thread!
if you’re not american: do not sign the white house petition! (link below)
- make sure to use a credible email when signing the petition!
- you MUST be over the age of 13!! https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/justice-casey-goodson
deciding to tweet one thing about the movement and going back to your regular tweets feels VERY dismissive. this isn’t something you should just brush off. take the time to educate yourself properly and LISTEN to those of us who are hurting.
do NOT speak over any black person EVER. you don’t get to dictate how we feel about this situation. you don’t get to speak over us and or belittle us because you do not know what it feels like.
don’t use this as a way to gain traction. if you’re using this for likes, retweets, followers, etc. you’re a terrible person. tweets like “rt/comment if you support blm!” are the problem.
spread the word. drop a hashtag. retweet a petition. SIGN a petition. donate if you can. use your money to go to a good cause and to help someone who’s been put in a terrible situation such as this. i’m linking my last tweets below for more petitions and better +
words. love u all <3 #JusticeForCaseyGoodson
