Today marks one year since the passing of Juice WRLD, may he rest in paradise.

A tribute to Juice and his legacy #LLJW

Rise To Stardom:

One of the biggest reasons J had the success he did was because of his completely unique sound and unorthodox approach he took apposed to the norm at the time. He started to gain a small following as him, Nick Mira, and Sidepce made a plethora of music together
In early 2018, his single 'Lucid Dreams' took off to the moon after casual fans started to fall in love. Seeing this, director and videographer Cole Bennett decided to film a music video for the track and upload it to his Lyrical Lemonade youtube channel.
As a result, Juice started to gain traction amongst the emo-rap community, which then spread to the mainstream. 'Lucid Dreams' debuted at #74 on the Billboard hot 100 and it became his first top 10 song. Realizing his popularity, Juice took advantage and continued to create.
On May 23, 2018, he released his debut studio album, 'Goodbye & Good Riddance', only a short while after Lucid Dreams. GB&GR sold 39k units first week and charted at #15 on the US Billboard 200. After this release, his fanbase continued to grow rapidly, and the rest was history.
Early Influences:

Growing up, Juice WRLD's favorite bands were Blink 182 and Escape the Fate. His mother didn't allow him to listen to hip-hop when he was young, so he grew up on emo and classic rock. Secretly, he listened to rap alongside his favorite bands.
He took heavy influence from his favorite rappers, which include Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Kid Cudi, and Future. Juice often talked about the similarities between Kanye's '808s & Heartbreak' and his own music. The pure vulnerability of 808's showed Juice that he could do the same…
and open up to his emotions by way of music. In a 2018 interview with Vulture, Juice said, “I think I kind of live with that record on my shoulder” in regards to Kanye's 808's. Even though he didn't get a chance to work with all of his idols, he was fortunate enough to drop…
an entire collab album (WRLD on Drugs) with his biggest trap influence, Future. Taking from his favorite artists/bands, Juice managed to mesh elements of rock, trap, emo-rap, and punk styles into his music, which made him appeal to the masses even more.
Raw Talent:

Although he didn't focus too much on pure rapping when it came to he releases, J was one of the best freestylers in recent memory. From the one hour session on Funk Flex to rapping the entirety of 'Death Race For Love' off the dome, this man was something special.
Juice WRLD's Impact:

In his unfortunately short lived career, Juice managed to touch the hearts of millions around the globe. From raps about heartbreak & mental health to substance abuse and addiction, his music helped people-mostly teenagers-make sense of their own problems.
Being as young as he was, Juice knew what his fans felt, and his music was an escape from their own harsh realities, much like myself. Him and his fans started the 999 movement (in contradiction to the devil's number) to spread positivity and show that he loved every supporter.
Personal Connection:

I found Juice WRLD back in late 2017/early 2018, where I was in a terrible place mentally. His music was there for me when really no one else was and I always felt comfort in listening to his beautiful melodies. As bizarre as it may sound, he saved my life.
There is much more I can say about how he helped me and my exact situation at the time, but twitter isn't the right place for that. Bottom line, Juice WRLD and his music are something that will forever be important and a huge part of my life... years in the future as well.
