The most bizarre argument I have heard from educated globally traveled capitalist folks is that (somehow) it's immoral that the Modi govt used it's majority in parliament to pass bills & laws. These same folks give lectures on democracy & how Trump must accept election results.
I have tried to discern the logic in this argument & as I have stated on here earlier the reasons I surmise are as follows.
India with coalition Govts from 80s till 14 for 25yrs meant the tail wagged the dog & we believed THAT was how nature intended it to be. A ragtag 10 member
party decided who the PM should be. At every stage brokers took over every single aspect of the govt & nation that we became so comfortable with that system. Those who were in their 30s & spent 25yrs in their broker led admin of India at 55+ today are finding themselves totally
incompetent to work on their own. They don't know how. I have heard owners of large biz say they have not visited Delhi in 6yrs. They say they have no clue how to get things done. When I probe further it's not that day to day govt work that's bothering them, it's their inability
to fix things, policies, competition, appointments the whole 9 yards. This is not to say that the present system is all hunky Dory. It is to say that you can still lobby, influence, request but the broker will NOT decide & fix. Govt will listen but decide what they think is best
This is a new animal to most bizmen who deal with the govt. If a Rahul speaks of an Ambani Adani it's more becoz the largest folks may just get a little more leeway but the 99% of other biz & other deals are no longer being fixed. Yes there maybe new brokers as is being alleged
but reality from personal experience is different. They can say what they want but they don't have a say. One no longer gets a call from stranger brokers who are already aware of your issue & offering to get it fixed. Even friends working in high positions refuse to entertain you
in their office for a cup of coffee. They say "we have to explain why, so come home". The honest are happy but others call this fascism. When folks get used to being greeted & feted in their private club they think that's reality when that's the real fascism & lack of democracy
Be it the #farmersbill or #art370 or just the day to day way of working the brokers have lost the biggest number of jobs & more importantly their exaggerated power. This is the biggest success of the Modi govt & the reason why so many hate this govt.
