WOW

This is SO cool. I just tried a small meditative visual exercise using the IFS techniques described here and was able to call up unpleasant memories from childhood I almost never think about and wouldn’t dredge in just normal remembering

The whole idea personifies aspects of your self and allows you to engage with them separately on the basis of discrete trauma or function and by modeling them as memory blocks

It’s like a different way to access memory and defuse deep seated and old fears
🤔🤔🤔

I wonder if you could apply the same technique with parts of your physical body that are hurt as a self assessment and healing technique

By personifying an injury and directing your attention, might you be able to persuade it to accelerate healing or relax? 🤔
This article also makes a very persuasive case for why confidence is self reinforcing (or even acting confident)
This is basically a fantastic how-to guide for a technique you can attempt to see if it helps unfuck your trauma
This is really interesting because it also gives me something active to try in a pseudo meditative state when usually I’m just clearing my mind and hoping meditation “does something” to help me eat my shadow or whatever

This is more like... introspection and self-reassurance
You can use this technique to label and personify each fear you have and address it directly to offer it reassurance
This, by the way, is EXTREMELY persuasive to me when I consider it as an idea for how symbols could work to influence physical bodies if your brain can act on a personified other and actually have an effect
If you create a symbol that represents an aspect of self you can take wholly mental action on the symbol and influence the physical

This practice gets even more interesting depending on the degree to which our attention and will affect reality (unknowable)
But there’s a plausible explanation for a system of magic and how it might interact with the physical world
