'The Science', 'Following the Science'. One of the catch phrases of the year and one that has taken such significance not just in terms of public discourse but also in direct government policy. Policy that has not had such profound implications for generations.
'The Science' has taken on, rather ironically, a mystical allure. Politicians have proclaimed like ancient mystic's 'follow the science', 'this is the way'. They have claimed this phrase with a religious fervour devout in the belief that there is only one 'Science'.
One Science to rule them all, a righteous branch of Science that commands moral authority; and so the political elite proselytise their scientific gospel to the masses. Like any successful religion its moral framework is buttressed with rewards and punishments.
Personal sacrifice at the alter of the mask; spending forty days and nights cast out into the wilderness in sublime isolation is rewarded with the sweet affirmation of moral certitude bestowed by the liberal elite like a the father praising his children.
The main stream media rise in choral approval of the righteous and spread the gospel of 'The Science' over the land. However should the sheep stray from the flock and question the word of The Science; then public scorn shall descend upon you from up high. You will be labeled a
harbinger of death, a bringer of pestilence and a silent carrier of disease to the very door of your loved ones. If you persist in your disobedience or are defiant before The Science, then you will feel the wrath of your religious leaders and the state will unleash it's
protective powers. It's commandments will be up held, the police will strike down the wicked in a public place like a cordon of devils, further more the income of the wicked is punishment up to ten thousand pounds.
Government by decree propped up by The Science, has little by little eroded people's fundamental liberties with little objection. The proselytising of The Science has built a new church of self sacrifice and the most zealous of worshipers flagellate themselves
for the NHS, a more devout sect within the new religion.
The hijacking of the word Science, in hindsight, by the political class was always fraught with danger. It is a cliché to say but politics has always been a dirty game and the deeper into the mire any politician sinks

the dirtier they become. The political capture of the word Science has homogenised its meaning into singular globule for pure political manipulation. Science is a simple umbrella term to denote a process of discovery. It is the scientific method that helps the human species
to seek out truths about the nature of the world we live in. The scientific method, a simple and brilliant tool:
1. Make an observation. 2. Ask a question. 3. Form a hypothesis, or testable explanation. 4. Make a prediction based on the hypothesis.

This has generated unparalleled human progress over the last few hundred years. Like any tool it can be misused; unfortunately it has not been used, it seems at all by many a government. Consensus within 'science'

is a hard fought thing and is not fixed, immutable and constant. Hypothesis and theories are always subject to scientific conjecture and test. There is no 'Science' in the way that the government proclaims; there is but the scientific method in a sea of competing ideas.
There is lots of scientific conjecture contrary to the government propaganda concerning Sars Cov2. In normal circumstances 'The Science' proclaimed by government advisors would be put to the scientific sword to see if holds true. This, however has not happened due to the capture
and gaming of Science for political means, the dirtier the game the more dangerous a tool science becomes as it is not used as a means of discovery but as a political weapon or a mechanism for political survival. The consequences are usually dire, whether it be Nazi eugenics or
the detonation of the world's first nuclear weapon. 'Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds'. J. Robert Oppenheimer.
People should be very weary of politicians proclaiming they are only 'following the Science' for not only does it allow them wield the sword of Damocles

over the population, it also offers them a degree of obsufcation of responsibility. Remember,
