I’m not aromantic. I’ve never explicitly said anywhere that I was. What I did was release a complex record about lovelessness that is pretty romantic, lyrically and sonically.

And followed it up with a long album about how my identity is too complex for catch-all terms. Lol
Talking about identity is largely a trap. And yet I take the bait. Despite what journalists imply or state as fact, I’ve never talked about my romantic or sexual identity or declared a position. Funny enough, I’ve never been asked! Mama let’s research. 💫
When listeners/journalists call me aro or non-binary or queer or asexual I usually just smile and nod. preserve my energy, cuz I know it means something to them. But it has affected my personal life in interesting ways... can I live without being boxed? Can I consent? Perhaps not
Onward. One day we’ll talk about the limits of minoritized identities, and how they can stunt the dynamic nature of being. Or maybe I’ll stop talking altogether. Complexity isn’t sellable and talking about is exhausting to all involved.
