How to write a solid blog post in one hour.
THREAD.

1. You need direction (so you can focus and write efficiently.)
Start by filling out a writing brief for yourself. It doesn't have to be super detailed or fancy. I have a template you can buy here: https://gumroad.com/l/creativebrief

2. From your brief, start working on your outline. Start in the middle and build out your sections with bullet points.
Leave the intro and closing for later.

2. Once you have your outline done, write an ugly first draft. It gives you something to work with, even if it's not pretty.
Note: DO NOT EDIT during this phase.

3. Once you have the middle done, look at it as a whole to determine what kind of background information you need to share so the reader has relevant context before diving into the bulk of what you’ve written.
This shapes your intro + closing.

4. Now you have a more complete first draft. Next, it's time to self-edit.
-Punch up your title and headings.
-Ask: “But, why?”
-Break down long sentences.
-Reorganize any non-sequiturs.

5. If possible, get a second set of eyes on what you've written.
If not, be sure you've at least run your piece through @Grammarly and @hemingwayapp to check for glaring errors.
(You know, like getting your numbers messed up in a Twitter thread...ugh.)

6. Finally: Publish. Share. Repeat.
Be okay with sharing writing that isn’t quite perfect.
Iterate, improve, and collect feedback every time you publish. You'll get better along the way.
