Investment funds in #Sorare ? Let's be frank about it, we all knew they were coming sooner or later. Apparently, @BlackpoolHQ and Metapurse are the two publicly known at the moment, but if I had to guess, I'd say there are more already operating in the card markets.

Before I proceed, have a look at my previous thread that made the rounds last week, connecting the famous (or infamous, depending on your point-of-view) Mr Karuppu account with the Metapurse fund. https://twitter.com/ThePortugueseT1/status/1333853226005913604

a. Should we be for or against investment funds in #Sorare ?
4/

a. We should be for investment funds in #Sorare. They'll be market participants with high focus on arbitraging assets between the primary and secondary markets and they'll definitely serve as support (and as resistance) in card's price action.
5/

a. This will provide much more performance/utilitybased valuations and it won't remove the speculation on new players / future performances price actions. Their presence will improve the #Sorare ecosystem tooling and help us all make better decisions about what's worth what.
6/

a. Their presence will also contribute to end the senseless and dumb price action difference we see between primary and secondary markets. Remember that Bradaric that auctioned by 0.14 ETH when there was one at 0.124 ETH in the secondary market with 6.5% bonus ? Never again.
7/

b. Does the presence of investment funds benefit the common users or does it actually hurt us ?
8/

b. Their presence does not affect 99.99% of the common users experience or practices. A guy like me would never win the Mbappe unique auction, nor would most likely a guy like you. It might have some effects with young wonderkid's rare cards valuations though.
9/

b. These funds care about the long-run. Sure, they might be focused on competing in the higher divisions next week, but their gallery build-up will be very focused on LT investments. That's why young player's valuations might become more, say, leveled with expectations.
10/

c. Should these funds be allowed to compete in #Sorare's competitions against other funds and/or other users?
11/

c. Yes, they should, with their official fund account. Also, #Sorare should consider making the fund account's visible to everyone else (with a different color or a different badge, maybe), so that the rest of the community tracks their activities.
12/

c. Multi-accounting is illegal in the game and as far as I know, measures are being taken to track it and forbid them to participate on tournaments. Everyone is welcome to all as much cards as they want, but using large portfolios to 'steal' rewards from small guys isn't fun
13/

As long as investment funds don't multi-account, they're just like the existing single-person whale accounts. Hard to beat in tournaments, but not impossible.
14/

One extra remark: liquidity.

I've recently had a community member reach out to me asking if I was interested in buying his entire gallery. It was worth about 70 ETH. I wasn't interested in deploying that amount to #Sorare, but investment funds will be.
15/

So, cashing out from the game, as long as investment funds are available and easy to reach out (another reason for them to be easily identifiable) will actually become easier. Wanna sell your entire account ? Talk to a fund and they'll pay a reasonable price for it.

Last remark: "Want to buy Mbappe rare, cheap, max 0.12 ETH"

Investment funds presence might finally end these bullshit WTB requests we get on Discord. Or not at all. But it'd be cool if it did.
