FriendlyHipHop's Top 10 favorite feature verses of 2020: A thread
⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️
10. 2 Chainz - Out of Sight (RTJ)
I haven't always jumped out at 2 Chainz verses but this one was amazing! Worked so well to end off the track and it was longer than I expected it to be.
9. Pusha T/Killer Mike - Good Morning (Black Thought)
I couldn't say one was better because I enjoyed both features on this track equally. I'll never pass on a Pusha feature, he showcases how great he is at them on this. And Killer Mike..well listen to the song
8. Royce Da 5'9" - You Gon' Learn (Eminem)
My favorite track off Em's latest album and it's all because of the Goat Royce. What a verse! The whole separation/segregation scheme was incredible! He can keep up with any rapper and I'll stand behind that statement.
7. Zach De La Rocha - JU$T (RTJ)
I mean.. I'm a sucker for a Zach feature. He can rap! Zach has had incredible success with Rage Against the Machine and gets overlooked so often! This verse was amazing and he stays true to his material with this one and murders the beat!
6. Rick Ross - Master Fard Muhammed (Busta Rhymes)
Can you really ever miss getting Ross on a feature? For me, not even close. Ross did what Ross does best, flaunts his success, talks about his struggles growing up and wanting to be his moms biggest supporter. Shouts out to Ross
5. Jay Rock - Lockdown (Anderson Paak)
This came at a heavy time. Shouts out to Anderson for getting Jay, JID, and Noname on a track that has real meaning. They all killed this, but I thought Jay really sent it home. Amazing job and the track doesn't get enough recognition.
4. Ab-Soul - Who Wants What (Russ)
Look, I get the talk around Russ, but they both brought it in this track, loved the entirety of it. But let's talk about Soul. Underrated is an understatement! They way he uses wordplay and brings it all together and finishes STRONG.
3. Benny the Butcher - Frank Lucas (Freddie Gibbs)
What do I need to say?? Benny does what Benny does best, BUTCHER a track. His punches on the eerie beat are raw and Freddie let him snap for almost 2 minutes? Amazing feature.
2. Kendrick Lamar - Look Over Your Shoulders (Busta Rhymes)
Yes I know, the track got leaked ages ago.. but this is the official release and that can't take away from the fact that Kendrick went in on this. Interesting Kenny went first but it didn't take away from the track.
1. Method Man - Lemon (Conway)
Ok finally, always been a Wu-Tang fan and Meth really showed us that he still has it on this verse. His wordplay is unreal and rides the beat so well. My favorite verse as well as feature for the year. Go re-listen to the track if you disagree :)
and for the honorable mentions! Here is some other tracks I really enjoyed but didn't quite make my top 10. It was so hard to choose:
Conway on Killa (Juicy J)
Joey on BQE (Kota the Friend)
JID on Cereal (IDK)
JID & Charlie Wilson - Roots (Amine)
Gucci Mane - Snitches & Rats (21 &Metro
Rick Ross - Cut em in (Anderson Paak)
JID - Extinct (REASON)
Conway - War Paint (Benny)
Westside Gunn - Overcomer (Royce)
