This thread is accurate, things are getting worse than they have gotten before and, because it's across so many regions, we can't send additional help to a hotspot b/c most places are hotspots.

There is also an unsolvable information accuracy problem with COVID now https://twitter.com/asymmetricinfo/status/1335961135640694784
I don't do the clappy-hand thing but I need to say this as clearly as possible:

People do not trust the media to accurately report when things are bad b/c the media has not reported accurately or honestly on COVID from the beginning.

No one knows what to believe.
I follow the state-by-state numbers about as closely as a person can and I still end up second guessing myself b/c I read news that is so out of context, it actually disinforms me.

I just wrote about this last week https://polimath.substack.com/p/holiday-fallout-and-covid-news-without
It is pretty annoying when people are like "oh those crazy people just aren't listening" when those "crazy people" have been screamed the whole year at about parks and beaches and outdoor dining and going for a hike https://twitter.com/politicalmath/status/1260060185252397056
Quite frankly, distrust of news reports is rational at this point.

In fact, if you *don't* inherently instinctively distrust news reports about COVID-related things by this point, then you are not a careful enough consumer of information to be trusted.
I hope everyone can find someone they trust on COVID stuff b/c it is still really important.

I do my best with my newsletter and a monthly "nothin but the data" state-by-state review https://polimath.substack.com/
But you should also follow:

@ProfEmilyOster - COVID & schools
@Alicia_Smith19 - overall COVID news
@KelleyKga - Georgia COVID in more detail than you can handle
@liora_ - Los Angeles & California COVID

They are trustworthy. If they say it's bad, it really is.
