I dont understand the student loan forgiveness thing. So the burden for all this debt is placed on tax payers and then we face the exact same issue in 30 years before that debt is even paid off?

Colleges need to reduce tuition. Thats the only solution that fixes this issue.
What would be infinitely better for young Americans that our US and state gvmts could work together to do?

Help working class folk afford their own QUALITY homes. Fix housing and things will start to fall into place. This is the true crisis that has been ailing us since 2008
Before you ask the taxpayer to afford your degree (which Im not actually totally opposed to it if done reasonably), lobby your university to stop charging exorbitant rates for tuition!
When you take a loan out you accept responsibility for that. That is true whether its a house, car, or a degree in literature
I want financial stress to be lifted off of our generation but I think the idea that this debt will "disappear" is naive and just pushes the problem back
If theres any debt that we need to be shrugging off, its the trillions that the baby boomer generation has racked up while enriching themselves, that they expect US to pay back after they pass on
Also, normalize not sending EVERYONE to university... Highschools trying to get every single child to sign up for tuition loans is ridiculous....

No, you dont need a degree from Vanderbilt in french lit in order to pursue a career as a creative...
Universities curriculums and administrations are SO bloated.

State colleges need to be reigned in by the states who subsidize them. FSU (and others ofc) charging $50,000 for 4 years of IN STATE tuition is absolute robbery.
