I'm seeing this trend and its been in the back of my mind for a bit. I've seen it happen, and its genuinely a terrifying thing. Its regarding stans and stan culture and I just wanna talk about it real quick.
We all enjoy something. A creator, or movie, or video game. Anything. And we enjoy some things more than others. I myself like the Yakuza series to death. And while we joke about how we stan fictional characters, thats alright. Its a fictional character after all.
However when you start thinking about stanning a real person, then this is where I start to get a bit...uncomfortable.
Stan originated from a song about a man so obsessed with Eminem that he'd do anything for him and ended up dying with his pregnant wife in the car. Its tragic.

Its not directed at any specific group. But a general thing. Stans while supportive and thats appreciated, theres a line between "being a fan and supporting your favorite creators" and "My life will revolve around this individual/group and that is my only characteristic"
In a way, its part of why I dont really get myself involved in any big communities. I just enjoy stuff from people and thats it. I don't clout chase, I don't buy my friendship, I don't push myself to be around someone big and freak out. I respect them as people.
Behind the camera is another person who does everything you do because they're people. Sure there are some who take advantage of it, and some who tire of it. I always get scared of me blowing up because I never want anyone to stan me. I couldn't take it.
I'm not saying people shouldn't enjoy things. Far from it. Enjoy things. Enjoy content creators. I enjoy watching people. But thats all.
Please take care of yourself.
