A weird assumption in the IQ lit is that, if poor/minority kids (1) are placed in enriched Head Start-style environments, (2) see their IQs increase to near the national mean, and then (3) see them drop to ~90 when they leave that environment...this means IQ is mostly genetic.
(2) To me, this would seem to indicate the exact opposite: neuro-plasticity exists, and people placed in stimulating competitive environments can see their tested IQs jump 20 points for environmental reasons. But, as with the gym, when the "workout" ends, gains slowly fade.
(3) As re "references" - I'm reading the 'Bell Curve Wars,' and the articles to come out of the book, right now. 6-7 people argue this in 200 pages. #come_on_now
