THREAD: I'm the @MetroATLDSA guy that "dropped" Destiny and allegedly sabotaged his whole canvassing operation. Here's why that's actually bullshit:
Sat, Nov 28: Destiny staffer joins a YDSA discord. He asks to organize an event for Fri, Dec 5. He disregards basic social distancing practices and wants to organize this event during finals week. He calls a YDSA officer and pitches it.
Mon, Nov 30: YDSA officers decide not to have an event. Primarily because it's FINALS WEEK.
Tues, Dec 1: An officer tells him they're not interested. He presses them about working with @MetroATLDSA or other YDSAs so they give him my phone number because I'm YDSA coordinator.

Wed, Dec 2: Destiny staffer calls me. I have no idea who Destiny is. He says they have tons of signups but no voter data or canvassing app yet and desperately need help. They asked @NewGAProject for help but were rejected. He invites me to get drinks with him and Destiny.
I say I'm social-distancing and decline. I invite them to send people to our already-planned canvass on Sat, Dec 5. He asks if Destiny can speak and if they can do their own events with our VAN. I say I'd need to check with leadership first.
I ask a few members "who is Destiny" who say he sucks. I google "Destiny streamer" for the 1st time and see him call for murdering BLM protestors. I don't bother checking in with other officers or our runoffs committee. https://twitter.com/zei_squirrel/status/1299877252579155968
I call back 2 hours later. I politely say I think the chapter won't be interested in cohosting events with Destiny, but they're welcome to send volunteers to our public events. I recommend contacting the Ossoff/Warnock campaigns about setting up their own events. He says ok.
So basically, nothing happened. We didn't dramatically sabotage their plans, lead them on, or derail "a couple weeks" of organizing as Destiny said. VAN is expensive as fuck. They're just pissed they can't co-opt our volunteer-organized events. This dude sucks lol.
