As many people here will know, my dad ( @HenryBrooke1) died unexpectedly in January 2018. 1/12
He had a connection with Peace Brigades International ( @pbiuk), a small human rights organisation, and they set up the annual Sir Henry Brooke Awards to honour human rights defenders. 2/12
The inaugural awards were presented to Naomi Barasa and Daniel Prado in November 2018, and I tweeted about them here. 3/13 https://twitter.com/chrisbrooke/status/1062483914437083143
The second lot of Henry Brooke Awards were handed out in November 2019, and went to Maricela Vázquez Sánchez & Carla Palacios on the one hand and to Donald Hernandez Palma on the other. Again, I posted some tweets: 4/12 https://twitter.com/chrisbrooke/status/1195112396924366851
This year, of course, it’s all happening online, because of the pandemic, rather than at a drinks reception in London. 5/12
This first of this year’s Awards has just been given to Dina Meza. 6/12 https://twitter.com/aliciaquinones/status/1336016499161653255
And here’s a little more on what she does: 8/12

The second Award is going to Reinaldo Villalba ( @ReynaldVillalba). 9/12 https://twitter.com/Ccajar_Eng/status/1334818918981120001
And I’ll end by saying what I now say every year: I don’t know whether the Award winners are really honoured by being associated with dad’s name. But, my goodness, we are honoured by having their names associated with his. 12/12
