For months and months, I have tweeted about the brutal logic of the Sars CoV2 virus. It wants warm, breathing bodies. It doesn’t care about political affiliation or faith or kindness or heroism.

I’ve tried to underscore the awful brutality of exponential growth of infections.
I’ve tried to express my dismay at so many governments who did not have the spine to take the economic hit early on and shut the community spread down. But ultimately, it is really up to each of us. We know what to do. I don’t believe even the most fervent Trumpers are ignorant
of how to keep themselves and their community safe. They have chosen not to. And in doing so, they have spread the virus to those who have no choice but to be exposed and vulnerable.

Ultimately, this was a story about people who could not defer their desires.
This was a story about weakness and magical thinking. A story about people dehumanizing each other. A story about societies that see their economic inferiors as a low-value resource that can be wasted without thought.
