Subtweet to a retweet of a subtweet. You know what, writers? Be bitter sometimes if you want. Be upset. It happens. Sometimes you get jealous. You can't help it. And don't heed someone lecturing you about it when you already feel shitty. 1/
Most of the time, I have accepted that I'm going to be a niche noir writer on indie presses. That's the way this thing has turned out for me so far. Other days, I want an Edgar award and to be on Best of... lists. I also cheer on great writers who get good NYC deals. Jealous, too
And other times, I'm mad at publishing, but then I see great writers on big presses and think, Wow, cool.
We are complicated! We can feel lots of things at once. We can whine on Twitter. We can celebrate on twitter! We can share our experience no matter what it is! 3/

Writing novels is not easy. Getting people to read them is not easy. Getting an agent and a NYC publisher (or even a great indie publisher) is damn near impossible. So it's okay to feel mad sometimes. But try to get over it and keep writing. That's all. 4/
DO NOT let successful writers, or cliques of writers, or book reviewers, or etc. take the piss when you're already feeling punched in the stomach. Feel what you got to feel. Then keep going.
And try not to get into petty scraps on Twitter.
Never mind the last one. You do you.
