We fucking love detecting patterns, real or not, and we REALLY love when one fits into an existing story that makes us feel intelligent or special. That shit is like crack and when it happens honestly nobody will ever stop and think "what if I've got this completely wrong"
The longer someone is committed to a pattern being real, lower chance they'll ever stop, and worse dissonance will be in face of conflicting evidence.
If you read this and thought of all the people who disagree with you, you missed the point and I would place you in the high risk category for pattern-detection delusion.
A lot of recent phenomena can be explained by this simple pattern-detection rush. It's more amplified now than ever because everyone is disillusioned and looking for the cure.
As you can probably see, this leads to some weird outcomes! And because we are flooded with information on LITERALLY EVERYTHING you will absolutely find exactly what you are looking for. You can validate ANY idea you want. Invalidation is the skill no one is picking up.
And btw, the longer you spend interacting with people who agree with all the same patterns you do, the further you're going to descend.
