Someone needs to do a study of young ppl who self-ID as ace, aro, or aroace.
The focus would be on those <25, esp. 16-20.

What proportion have been on mental health medication for a long period of time? Eg. since puberty, Esp. meds known to suppress libido and sexual function.
I'm unsure whether it's a good idea to present 'ace' as an identity - to young ppl.

Although there is absolutely nothing wrong with asexuality per se, and it's certainly safe (!).....
.... I do believe that some of those who currently consider it a cool ID actually have drug-induced adverse effects, and/or emotional problems/trauma which need attention.

I am more than happy for older people who really know themselves to say 'I'm asexual'....
But when young people are saying it as ~18.
Why? Is there something else going on..
@SashaLPC
Do you know of young people IDing as aro/ace in your practice?

If so, do you find it most linked to:

Medication eg. Antidepressants
Gender dysphoria
Anxiety and psych problems
Drug misuse
History of physical abuse
Something else?
