This is perhaps the most deceitful column I've read from anyone nominally on Team Remain.

The idea that a "soft" Brexit survived more than a few weeks after the referendum is for the birds.

It's telling that Owen decided to focus on 2019. The soft Brexit door was slammed shut in late 2016, and nailed closed in January 2017, when Theresa May made her speech.

By 2019, Labour were way off into Brexit fantasy land, and many Remainers had despaired of the PV campaign.
But then, for Owen, it's really been about something else entirely...

He attacked "ultra-remainers" in May 2019 too (anyone trying for a second referendum rather than "compromise"). There were no soft compromise options left for over 2 years. But hey...
