This going to be a thread of Gabi’s character analysis from the Marley arc only, I will try to make this contain as less spoilers as possible but for Fair warning there will be spoilers of some sort
As we can see here in the beginning of the Marley Arc we’re introduced to Gabi, Falco, Udo, and Zofia who are candidates for being the next armored titan but as the other three state Gabi is always saying shes the most reasonable to be picked which is why she’s always trying to
Prove herself to the leaders of Marley so she can be the next armored titan. She also wants to prove to people that not all Eldians are Devils or are evil like the world claims them to be that is Gabi’s reason for trying to become the next armored titan.
The moment when they needed a plan to disable the armored train Gabi was on top of it with her plan of using the bundle of hand grenades to stop it, to Gabi this was all just another way of proving herself to everyone that she’s a perfect candidate for the armored titan
As you know Gabis grenade plan ends up successful which gives the Marleyans an opening to win the war with the Titan shifters they have on their side which are the cart titan, the Jaw titan, the beast titan, and the armored titan
The Marleyans end up winning the 4 year long war and are finally able to home
As we can see Gabi really looks up to Reiner who so happens to also be her cousin, on there way home everyone celebrates Gabi for being the one to stop the armored train which boosted his pride and ego in herself which isn’t a bad thing but it also isn’t a good thing
As we can see Falco wants to be the next armored titan only to protect his friend Gabi and Reiner encourages this because he knows the dark path Gabi will descend into if she becomes a titan shifter and he wants to save her from that fate
Once home we can see Gabi telling her family about how she stopped the train and how proud of her they are, Gabi continues to try and show why people should think highly of her and the warrior unit when the “Demons” are brought up in the conversation
At this point in the story Gabi is convinced that everyone from the island is evil and should be eradicated from what everyone has told her especially Reiner someone who spent 5 years on the island, Gabi believes everything Reiner says and takes it to believe they’re all evil
Gabi isn’t self centered or as egotistical as people make her out to be she clearly cares for other people which is proven with her conversation with Reiner in chapter 95
We can also see a Rivalry between Falco and Gabi start to develop in this chapter
As their rivalry progresses we can see that Gabi starts to get a little frustrated with Falco catching up to her but gets even more frustrated when he say he’s doing it for her sake
Gabi takes this day seriously to try and prove even more that Eldians aren’t bad people or “devils” as people like to call them
In this part Gabis face lights up when she sees someone from another country take blame for an Eldians accident which makes her a little happy cuz it proves everyone doesn’t think Eldians are “Devils”
People tend to forget that Gabi is only 12 and is shunned by a lot of people for being a certain race but she’s still able to enjoy being a child and discovering new things despite being a candidate for the armored titan
This is the day where Gabis life is flipped upside down, Gabi is just enjoying her time at the rally and patiently waiting for Falco and Reiner to show up not knowing they’re having a conversation with Mr. Krueger
As the rally is going on Gabi hears the story that everyone has been told over and of the Demons on Pardis Island
As the rally continues the truth about the Eldians and the Great titan war is all revealed and Gabi is surprised along with everyone else who is there even the truth about the walls and how they were made are revealed to everyone at the rally
As Willys Speech comes to an end Eren shows up to take revenge on the Marleyans who sent Reiner and the others all those years ago, this where Gabi starts to experience and feel what Eren and the others went through that day when the colossal titan attacked
As everything is going down Gabi sees one her friends crushed by debri and another trampled to death and has so much fear inside her
Even under all the fear and stress Gabi still thinks of others and wants to help fight against the “Demons” who have invaded her land
Gabi at this point is filled with rage as she continues to see people killed in front of her while she also got a good look of one the people who murdered one of her comrades
After all the death and destruction Gabi is set and determined to kill the one person responsible for it all
Gabi and Falco are the ones who encourage Reiner to fight and help because they know they can’t do anything which shows that Gabi is a caring person who isn’t self centered
As the Marley arc comes to a close this is where Everything Gabi does is Justified with full reason on why she does it Gabi to most people and is completely misunderstood and taken the wrong way once you come to understand her character she’s very well written and fleshed out
