Big opportunity for President-Elect Biden: Cleaning up vehicles and power plants, which produce most of our lethal pollution. It's a bipartisan, pro-jobs and pro-health move that Americans in both major parties can support. 100% it can be done, even now (thread)
A dangerous idea is making the rounds. It holds that the country is too divided to get big things done. This kind of thinking is wrong. Biden CAN make good on campaign promises like creating jobs, making the economy cleaner/more equitable, confronting the threat of climate change
To achieve his broader goals, Biden will need to shape his policies in a way that rallies the country and attracts bipartisan support. He can do so if he binds those three priorities (jobs/economy/climate change) tightly together
Exit polls show Americans want rapid progress on economic growth, racial justice, climate change. Red and blue states alike have benefited from new jobs in EVs and renewables. Most strongly support rejoining Paris Agreement. All of these are opportunities https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/12/06/how-biden-administration-should-frame-its-priorities/
As mentioned to @AmaraCNN President-Elect Biden MAY be able to undo most (perhaps all) of President Trump's climate damaging moves. Court record to date shows we can correct the admin's rushed, often illegal actions here
All of this to say: Biden can do the big things. Investing in electric transportation and cleaning up the electric power it runs on will create good jobs while addressing the biggest sources of climate pollution. Let's make it happen (/thread)
